Skincare is like love... you have to find your perfect match! haha! That's why I tend to try and try stuff that will suit my skin. I was having some bad skin period the time we came back to Shanghai, and I needed some miracle to tend my skin! I was pretty exposed to dermatologist, treatments, medications and medicines, which at this point, I'm trying to avoid the oral medicine part!
Since I also noticed some lines in my eyebrow area, I was really starting to panic! I'm not yet ready for wrinkles, lines, crow's feet, laugh lines!! NO!!!!!
I'm kinda familiar with some brands like La Mer, Shu Uemura, Awake, Murad, Clarins, Lancome, etc., but Guerlain really caught my eye.. With its sleek packaging, I found myself leaning towards testing Guerlain for now.
So with that, I got myself some Guerlain samples! hahaha! Too bad I have to discover this French brand here in Shanghai, when the prices here are high as Mt. Everest!
Anyway, I got myself the anti-aging line! hahaha! Success Future line -- Firming and Anti-wrinkle! hahaha! So, should I be worry that I'm using this line at my current age? Actually, No! hahaha! I found my skin to be more luminous.. I lately noticed that my skin is more glowy! Even my Mom just told me so earlier! hahaha!
My Samples! hahaha! Guerlain, Armani and MAC samples! hihihi! Love 'em!!! :)
I got the following: - Guerlain Success Future Day Care SPF15 - Guerlain Success Future Night Care - Guerlain Success Future Serum - Guerlain Super Aqua-Eye Serum
I'm actually interested also in Happylogy line and the Midnight Secret. Since I have some small dark spots, I like to try their Whitening line also.
But definitely, I think I found what really suits my skin.. for now, that is... I'm loving Guerlain right now! Of course, I still have some of my stuff, and I tend to use them once in awhile also... But I think I will continue to love Guerlain, as long as my skin is loving it! :)
I finally received my sample of the Armani Luminous Silk Foundation in #5, and I swatched it earlier with my Shu Face Architect Remodeling Cream in #764. I found the closest match to Shu's #764! And I can't wait to try it tomorrow! I felt that the LSF#5 is more pinkish than the #764, but I'm thinking I can use an Armani Fluid Sheer to make it a more golden tone... hmmm.. Let me try it tomorrow first and I'll let you know what i think then! hihihi! :)
I discovered last month that I have a faint line nearing my eyebrows. I noticed that I tend to react immediately.. example, when I learned some disturbing news, unconsciously, my eyes and eyebrows are reacting! So, can you imagine the shock, when I notice the line? Grrrr!!!!
So I'm now a mission to find the working anti-wrinkle cream! But I have a very thin patience, which makes me restless after using something for 1 or 2 days, that I can't see any improvement still! Thank God for being here in Shanghai, China, I learned a less expensive way to trying out products, without deeply burning my pocket! That's to buy samples! Yes, you got it right!
It supposed to be free in skin care counters right? But here, there's a site wherein we can look for and buy samples of the skin care brand you choose, and it will be delivered to your place. Of course, you have to really research, and try to talk to the seller, check the sellers' credibility before you finalize everything.
As of the moment, I'm just loving the samples! I'm trying another brand right now, but I do make sure to mix and match! hahaha! Definitely, I want this line near my forehead to goooooo awayyyyyyyyyyyyy!!!!!!!!!!!!
We'll be celebrating our first Christmas together as husband and wife! This calls for a celebration, right? Can't wait for the 24th! hahaha! Melchor, are you excited too? hahaha! :) Happy Christmas to all!
I just posted my Chirstmas gift from Melchor, and now, I'm writing this as my Christmas gift TO MELCHOR.
He actually chose his gift! hahaha! And with a little encouragement, I believe he's all smiles na! hahaha! He wanted an Osim uSqueez foot massager! hahaha! We went to the 7th floor of City Plaza in Nanjing West Road, and tested the uSqueez and iSqueez. Melchor was saying it's not cheap, yet, that's what he wanted eversince. We left Osim counter, walk a bit.. then Melchor decided he really wanted the uSqueez as his Christmas present. So without another 2nd thoughts, we bought home a 23kgs heavy thing.. And boy, I think the saleslady at the Osim counter was thinking we're nuts, because instead of having the uSqueez be delivered to our place, we opted to get it NOW, and bring home by ourselves! 23kgs was nothing to Melchor, as I can see his smile and excitement of the uSqueez! Even during the ride back to our dorm, he is ALL SMILES! Hahaha! I believe I got the gift he truly wants!
Finally, his very own! hahaha! :)
I think Melchor's smile said it all. Happy is the heart when other half is happy.
Merry Christmas Mr. Gan! hahaha! Love, Mrs. Gan :)
This year is my 3rd Christmas with Melchor, yet my first Christmas as Mrs. Gan. haha! It's still a bit weird to be called as such, but I do use the new surname in work and other stuff.
With Christmas now nearing, and we're both here in Shanghai.. It's not easy to really buy and surprise each other with gifts, since we're both together like.. always!! haha! So both Melchor and I tend to un-surprise each other, by getting the gifts to one's knowledge na! E wala na e! hahaha!
Yesterday, Melchor and I went out because he needed to buy something for his exchange gift, as we have our Company's Christmas party on the 27th. We went to Ya Tai (it's like Greenhills of Manila, Philippines), and immediately looked and bought the item for his exchange gifts, and we just continue on looking for things around.
Then, we went to a known hotel here in Shanghai, as we'll be spending the first Christmas eve dinner as husband and wife.. hahaha! I really love my husband, for he's so game with everything that's related to us! :)
After that, we went to the Nanjing West Road, and there you have the known big big brands of the world! We visited the Marks and Spencer store here, which I think opened last October, this was our first time to visit the place, and boy! It's really huge! I mean, compare to the M&S stores in Manila, here it's 4 floors of all M&S!!! hahaha! Not really a fan of their garments, but I do purchase my underwears, thermal in Manila M&S, and Melchor loves the their belts.. It's a nice thought that now we can locally purchase M&S items here.
I kinda had an idea that Melchor will be surprise me a gift, but I don't know what exactly in his mind. I also have thought of giving him a watch, since we were unable to present that on our wedding. But in the end, I think we both just became honest with each other, and spilled our surprises! hahaha!
Moving forward to Plaza 66, I kinda wanted to visit there to look into some of the Louis Vuitton bags. It's not that I have plans to buy one soon.. hahaha! But it's nice to keep your choices handy. hihihi! Just in case, dba?
Plaza 66 have almost all the known brands around the world! Louis Vuitton, Fendi, Dior, Chanel, Armani, Tiffany and Co., Cartier, Prada, Jimmy Choo, Celine, Versace, Bulgari, Zegna, Hermes... you name it! haha! It's really nice to look around and just look! hahaha!
We visited Cartier first, and we were surprised that there are people around. Hahaha! It's really a season to be jolly, and many people are really into shopping! hahaha! Oh Shanghai people really really love to shop, and so these brands are really popular and can survive here! We cannot see so much of the rings selection, since there are a couple of people looking and trying out there.. so we didn't push it! Next stop was Bulgari, there are some people there.. We checked out some rings.. then Melchor told me that he like to give me a jewelry for Christmas gift! hahaha!
In the end, Melchor gave me a Bvlgari ring! hahaha! I just can't believe that he really gave me my first Bvlgari! hahaha! A real Bvlgari!! I'm checking the site now, and here's the gift from hubby: Here are the actual pictures of the ring: Hahaha! With my slender finger, I love this 1 band ring from Bvlgari.. It's not too big, to wide.. and I definitly will wear this now everyday! I hope to receive maybe a pendant and earrings next.. hahaha! It's not bad to think in advance, right?
Thank you Melchor! hahaha! Thank you for the gift, and love you always! - Mrs. Gan
Melchor and I went to Xin Tian Di yesterday, and had a good dinner with the ever favorite, Crystal Jade Restaurant. Xin Tian Di was now fully decorated with Christmas decorations... and I guess it's really Christmas noh? hahah :)
A picture taken at Xin Tian Di - 14 December 2008
It's a bit hard to take pictures when we're just with each other! Nevertheless, we try and it's perfect shot all the time! hahaha :)
During the trial makeup session with Peddy Acebo, I brought along some of my makeup, in case that they can be use for the big day. I'm super love Armani makeup, that I think I've bought the wrong shade! hahaha! Then and there, both Peddy and I agreed that the Armani LSF#4 is actually the wrong shade for me! hahaha! :)
So you guys may ask what did Peddy used? hahahahaha!! He used Shu Uemura Face Architect foundation, which turned out to be the right shade for me! hahaha! I kinda forgot to asked him that time what was the shade he used, but because I felt that the makeup Peddy did was so so so good, I'm in the constant craving for the foundation that he used!
With that, Melchor and I went to the City yesterday, and I was on a mission.. to buy the foundation used by Peddy! hahaha! So I asked the stylist there what was the shade more suitable for me, she was suggesting 564 and 764. 564 shade was a wee dark than 764, which she is suggesting to me for the foundation to look natural with me. But I end up buying 764.. with Melchor's help na rin! I think it's a more flawless look kasi e!
My wonderful husband! Shade comparison with GA LSF#4 and Shu FA#764 My Shu Uemura Haul - Face architect remodeling cream foundation and natural glow powder foundation.
So, as you guys may see, #764 which is the perfect shade for me, was really off from Armani Luminous Skin Finish #4. Now, my prob is that I also like Armani Liquid foundation!!! I have to match then Shu's #764 with Armani foundation!! Wahhh!! Here we go again! hahaha! :)
I will admit, that I love to research... Especially about something I'm unfamiliar with. I tend to research, read and read... until I felt tired about it na! hahah! So when I started to look for something related to pregnancy... Right now, I think I'm starting to grow tired in reading about them! I tend to overload the info in my head, that I don't like to think anymore.. Sooner or later, I don't know what to believe na! hahaha!
Here are the sites I found regarding how to conceive: http://www.babyhopes.com/ http://www.fertilityfriend.com http://www.parenting.com http://www.yourdays.com/
You can also find some answers at http://answers.yahoo.com
Honestly, not really too much in a hurry! But I like to know stuff first before I get into it! hahaha! Thank you for Internet! :)
I have to admit that I like my suppliers to blog my wedding. Not being a KSP or what... I guess there's this feeling that I want to have... That not only me and Melchor had great time that day, but also my suppliers. Or maybe that my suppliers felt we're special enough to have a place in their blog. I mean, I want my suppliers to feel that we had a great time that day! That our wedding was memorable not only for us, but for them as well... I wonder if they've forgotten us na..? Ahh ewan! I will admit that when I see new blog entries of my suppliers, which weddings recently conducted, it makes me wonder, what does it takes for suppliers to blog them really fast? hahaha!
I guess, I'll just think of what Melchor said to me regarding my whining: " Basta alam natin dalawa na maayos and memorable ang wedding natin. Yun ang important!"
I don't think I can't have anything to top that na! hahaha! Fine fine!! hahaha!
I was checking the traffic of my blog visitors, and one thing that I've realize that my acknowledgment part of my term paper 3 years before has been receiving visitors lately. Actually, it's really fine with me, but then, what I wrote in my acknowledgment is something a bit personal... I wasn't able to research how to write it or what... It was just something that I thought of the time I was cramming to submit my paper! hehe :)
So I think what we can do for the thank you part of the paper is to just what you need to say, say what you feel, whom you think must be credited for your work... In the end, there's no right or wrong in writing that part in a term paper... It's actually where you can be who you really are... :)
Melchor installed me a Real Player here in my laptop, that I can now listen to the radio stations back home.. LIVE!! hehe! It's been awhile since I last listen to Wave 89.1 FM. I guess I just find it really cool, and a bit happy... It's Sunday night now, and I still remember the Sunday night soft and calming music.. and can lull you to sleep! hahaha :) I'm not sure if I'm sleepy yet now, I just spent the afternoon dozing off, after the De La Hoya-Pacquiao boxing fight! haha! Well, congratulations to Pacquiao! Good fight indeed!! :) Pretty cool!!
I'm sporting a new hair! hehe! Yes, I had my hair cut at my favorite salon - Ming Ying Salon in Gubei Area. My hair cutter's name is Ah Long. (啊龙) - I think it's Allen in English. He's been cutting my hair since I started going to this Salon.
I can't say that everybody will agree that my hair looked good with me, because of my big round face. But since I'm feeling real sad to find falling hairs every now and then, I felt that I need to regrow then all at the same time! Or maybe lessen the weight of my hair by having a short hair! hahaha! I know, you guys won't agree... but to be honest, I'm feeling my hair for now! :)
" Get along with your makeup artist. Having good rapport between a client and a beauty stylist is crucial in achieving the best, wedding-worthy results. It is also based on mutual respect."
And you know what, this is so true!!! I think what made me really glow that October 18, was that I was enjoying, I was having fun.. I love the people around.. and pure happiness! People are fussing, talking.. though the room was a bit warm, still, people were just there!! hahaha! Melchor loved my makeup, my hair.. everything! hahaha! :) And I believe what Peddy created with my chinky eyes made Melchor's stomach do somersaults! hahah! Aminin!!! So I guess I can say is that not only you get along with your gown maker, your coordinator, your photographer... you also need to have good communication with the one who'll make you real pretty that day! hahaha! Well, I did and real proud to be Peddy's masterpiece! hihihi! :) Thank you very much! Peddy Acebo! :)
Part of our vacation here in Manila was not only focused on our wedding day, but also include the 2 weeks relaxing time we've arranged. With the nice itinerary we got from our travel agency - Multi-Destination Travel, we chose to visit Europe and maximize our time together. Met great people in the tour!! Miss them na! hahaha! Tour ulit!! :)
So with that, I just chose couple of pictures as highlights of our trip. I may still add some more soon, with that I'm sharing some pics for now.
As you all my read from my previous posts, my entourage gown designer is Veejay Floresca. And with that, I'm very proud of my designer for completing the gowns in 10 days! Can you believe that? He's our lifesaver! My girls loved their gowns! The pictures, their smiles purely showed how proud they are wearing their gowns! hahaha! I think in the end, that's the most satisfying and happy feeling that me, as the bride had her girls wore on our big day!
I like to share the designs and pictures that we had on that day! hahahah! Love them, love them!! Purely LOVE THEM!! hahaha!
Thanks so much Veejay! You're forever "IN" in our hearts! :)
Melchor and I are on a Mission this week. To finalize the pictures we love among all pictures, and give them to Nelwin for the album. This is actually a very difficult task for us. Ang dami kasing pictures e! So as we take a break once in awhile, I can't help but choose some of my favorites... hahaha! I love all the pictures! I actually wanted more! hahahah! Pwede bang kasal ulit? hahaha! Joke lang!
I personally know that it will be hard to please a kikay, when it comes to makeup. For a kikay girl like me, I already know what I want when it comes to makeup. I want a flawless smooth face, and Melchor requested that my eyes to be not so singkit. (Even Melchor knows what he wants when it comes to makeup! hahaha!)
So with makeup, yes, I'm very particular. Particular with brands, shades, shades I want, what works best, brands that can have allergic reaction to my skin, makeup that are oil-based. When it comes to who will be doing my makeup, I had thought of this over and over and over. And because of my bit familiarity in the makeup world, it was assumed that I'm leaning towards something already, assumptions which I did not take.
I did researched about who I want to do my makeup. I've inquired and ask around, looked for pictures, other than print ads... and yes, I know that bridal and print ad makeup is totally different with each other.
So when Clarice recommended Peddy Acebo to me, and my Mom wanted me to booked him already, looked at his past brides, I guess, I was thinking, as long as we can meet with each other, and communicate what I like, etc., I'm okay with him already. I saw a picture of Rachel Weisz and love her makeup! I knew then that I wanted to look like that on my wedding day.
I wanted Rachel's makeup to be my bridal makeup! hehe :)
I scheduled a meeting/trial with Peddy, because I want a perfect makeup on that day. We met 3 days before October 18! hahaha! Had trial at Propaganda Salon. :) Though some of you may say that I should forgo the trial, I feel the need to communicate with Peddy.. And get to know more about each other. So come that day, Melchor & I finally met Peddy. I even brought some of my stuff for him to fuss around. We kid around, chit chat.. And as we talked and talked, I felt that we grew comfortably with each other. I shared with him my addiction to makeup.. hahaha! (Actually it's Melchor who told Peddy that I have a lot of stuff here in Shanghai! hahaha!) As I watched him work his way to me, I knew in my heart that I made the right choice.
Peddy and I met at Propaganda Salon for a trial makeup - 15 October 2008 Ang payat payat nya!! hahaha!
Come the morning of 18th, I was told by Clarice the night before that the first supplier arriving my suite is Peddy's team, at 6:00AM. I was, "oh my.... ang aga pala! hahaha!" I woke up 5:15AM, and took a bath, then by 5:50AM, I heard a door bell on my door na! Wahhh!! It's Peddy's team na noh!!! They've arrived! With Peddy to do the hair is Bong. This is the first time I met him and siguro morning, ndi pa sya naka smile e! hahahaha!
Then, things went really fast... Bong did something and prepared to my hair, Peddy started my makeup!! Wahhhh!! After that, Bong finishes up my hair! And with that, GRABEEEEEEEE!!! I love my hair and makeup!!!!!!!!! I super duper love them!!! In my heart, I'm hugging both Peddy and Bong na!! They worked real wonders!! They also did my Mom and Sister's makeup, and they super duper love it!!! My sister even up to this point is saying that when it's time for her wedding preps, Peddy Acebo will be the first supplier she'll get from my Perfect group of suppliers! hahahaha! :)
Peddy's finishing up.. Can you see how happy I am with my flawless makeup? hahaha! ndi naman obvious dba? hahahaha!
Bong's fussing my hair! I love my hair-do!! Thank you very much Bong!!
I don't think I can say anything more to proved my happiness that day, other than the big smile I have for both Peddy and Bong. I just super love them!! They transformed me into a confident, pretty bride!!
Peddy and Bong made me really beautiful! Flawless, radiant, hair made-up! I felt like a Queen! Everything's so pretty!!!!!
Thank you once again Peddy and Bong! I will say this over and over again.. hahaha! Thank you so so much!!!!!
I have recently discovered the world of luxury. Not exactly the whole world.. I've been in touch with branded items in terms of makeup and skincare! But now I just discover 2 brands - Louis Vuitton and Gucci! Hahaha! That's all I can say for now.. :) (late bloomer e! hahah!)
Girls, as you may have read from my previous posts, I changed my Entourage Designer 12 days before our October 18 wedding. It was a stressful week! hahaha! But I can tell you that we've pulled it through!!! With flying colors pa! hahahah!
My new Entourage Designer and maker is Veejay Floresca. You guys may have heard about him from the Project Runway Philippines. Yes, the one and only Veejay Floresca! hahaha! :)
He was actually part of my entourage gown maker list.. I have more than 10 designers being considered, inquired and asked for... And I have to explained that I wanted him already... it's just that at the time that my Mom, Erica, Ai Becca and Cheska went to see him, he was a bit occupied! hahaha! I thought he may not have the time to do my entourage! hehehe :)
So come the disastrous former designer, who wanted me to pay up immediately and have excuses and reasons for not able to make the gowns with the designs that he drew! I knew then and there that I have to find someone who's willing to make my ento gowns in 12 days!
I called up Clarice and we immediately think of our own ways to look for the new designer/maker. Clarice called up Ms. Veluz, Niko, and even Cecilio Abad! hehehe! Ms. V and Niko had plans that week and may not be able to rush into it.. Cecilio Abad quoted me way way beyond of what we can afford. Since we'll be changing designers, and gowns made by the former designer... well, they're not valid anymore, we wasted our downpayment with the former designer and will not be getting the gowns they rushly made for us. So sad talaga! I was feeling a bit shame with Melchor, since we'll be adding the budget for our entourage gown, and wasted the downpayment we had with the former gowns! (ang labo ba? hahaha!)
So I remember that Monday lunch, Melchor, Mom and I were at Pacific Star Building Makati Ave., Chowking Restaurant, I opened my magic notebook (where I have a lot of numbers and list of suppliers! hahahah!), and dial a number! Luckily, Veejay answered, I explained the situation, and I ask if he'll be able to make my 6 Adult, 3 Kids gowns in less than 2 weeks time! hahaha! He said yes to me and we agreed to meet up the next day! I was itching to meet up immediately with him nga e, hahaha! But he had prior plans na kasi.
Our gang meet up with Veejay the next day.. talked about possible designs, color motif, ideas.. hahaha! I actually let go of my perkiness this time. I told Veejay, I just want my Entourage to look good and beautiful! My female Principal sponsors colors are in Citrus green, I wanted Yellow for my entourage... but I left everything to Veejay na. With the time constraint, I don't think I can afford to be picky pa! hahahaha! I'm just happy that he accepted my 'challenge'! hahahaha!
A little cooperation from my entourage, Melchor's help to pick-up the flower girls, we fetched and drove Veejay to my Aunt's place for measurement taking.. threw-in some ideas.. looked at my ento's body structures... Wah-la! Measurements completed.. the fitting will be in 1 week! hahahaha! :)
Our picture during the fitting, 4 days before the wedding day! Ito muna i-blog ko ah! To be continue - Entourage Gowns by Veejay Floresca.
I've already said my sincere thank you to Veejay! He was super kind talaga! And tons of salute and love talaga to him! Here's his take about our challenge! hahahaha!
Once again Veejay! Thank you Thank you very much!!!
As you all know, I love taking pictures, I love pictures! hahaha! So it won't be a surprise that on our wedding, we'll be having a lot of pictures! hahahah! I have uploaded pictures that we got from Nelwin Uyhere. Also uploaded the Lomo picture we got from Jill Lejano! :) Melchor and I will be choosing our pics to give to Nelwin soon! heheh :) As you may see, it's hard to choose! hahah! I also have good friend Winston Tiong's pictures uploaded, Fabfoto pictures also! hihih! Ang saya lang e!
I'll eventually be back-blogging the happenings I had during the month of October. Everything happened too fast, and too stressful! I think I just have to go through them one by one, so that I can still continue to document our journey towards our October 18 and more.
I guess being too stressful and had little time to personally look into our wedding preps, I wasn't really thinking of having my own bridal shower! So who wouldn't be surprised that someone did arranged something for me? hahaha!
1 week before the wedding, Melchor told me that we will be meeting or coffee on October 11 with some of his friends, friends he hadn't seen for a long long time. He actually told me that we'll be meeting his Slimmer World friends. I actually got mad! hahaha! Because with our busy schedule and hectic week, I myself haven't meet up with any of my closest friends!! And yet, he arranged a meeting with his SW friends! Can you believe that? I got mad, he was silent. Fine!
Come October 11, I have a dentist appointment in the afternoon.. but actually I was also delaying the time, hoping that our meet-ups with the SW will not push through! Hahahah! Yes, bad noh? Had dinner at Alba Restaurant in QC. Fine, fine!
Then, we went to Lancaster Suites, as Melchor said, that's where we will be meeting his friends. I was really too timid this time. I was tired, I have too much to think of pa, and yet, we'll be wasting time in meeting with his friends. Parked the car at Basement 3 I think, and funny thing, we met good friend Winston Tiong at the parking! hahaha! I asked him what he's doing there, he was a bit NR and said that he'll be meeting a friend. hahaha! (yun pala, he was there to fetch his wife!)
So we went to 21st floor, I was really in aloof mood.. hahah! Kasi naman e... @_@ Melchor knocked the door, I was a bit far, kasi nga medyo reluctant ako! Ayun! hahahaha! I was surprised to see Erica, Ever, Cousins, Girlie, Aimee!! hahahah! It was actually a bridal shower for me! hahahahha!!! Here's the invite that Ever made for the event. I was really surprised! I never thought I'll be having a shower! It was a fun night, and I was pampered... I have to thank Erica, Ever and Melchor, as well as all the guests for arranging and coming to enjoy the night with me! :)
Melchor and I ate dinner last night... Just the 2 of us together. Since we had 6 voucher for a buffer dinner or lunch at Edsa Shangri-La Hotel that we were not able to avail, due to lack of time, I finally thought of having our birthday dinner at Pudong Shangri-La Hotel.
We had fun, we were full, we had a great time! Hahaha! I don't think I can further explain how enjoyable the night was! Hahahaha! We had a lovely time! It was indeed a celebration of life and love! Most importantly, Melchor and I are together! Happy birthday to me! hahahah! :)
Yesterday was my 31st birthday! And my first birthday as Mrs. Melchor Gan. hahahah! :)
Well, my husband surprised me with my first flower bouquet from him!!! hahaha!! In addition with that, he also surprised me with a Cake! hahaha! :) Before Melchor brought the flowers and cake, I was actually starting to get mad at him, because it was already 0000 hours of November 22, and yet, he haven't greeted me a happy birthday yet! All the while, he had a little surprise for me! hahahah! Fine fine, ndi na ako magagalit! hahahah! Thank you husband, for the wonderful surprises! I really really appreciate your efforts and all! :)
As I'm starting to getting back to my routine here in Shanghai, I'm also taking the time and opportunity to one by one write and say thank you to all the people who made our wedding day really perfect and special. I wrote in my previous entry that I'm waiting for some time.. actually I'm waiting for the mood, hahaha! My writing and feeling mood e! But will try and start my suppliers rating soon!
Everyday, I do check my blog visitors. I guess I really want to help out other girls, who are also planning their special day! I'm happy to share this blog to others, who are confused and in need of some ideas, as I also experienced before. With that, I stumbled upon that some visitors of this blog had checked out my entry last time for the Quest for the Entourage Designer.
As much as possible, I like my entry last April 2008 be just the way it is. After all, it was what I felt and thought of that time, that makes me really want to blog. But I think I have to set the record straight for this. I don't think anyone deserves to be stressful on planning their event.
My blog entry last April 2008, I thought I can sit back and rest, because the designer I chose was okay already. I guess this is the hassle for being overseas, you can't be sure of everything, unless you're physically in place already.
Everything was okay already, measurements taken, sketches were drawn, pictures were exchanged, motif were finalized. I was assured that the schedule are in time. Melchor and I went to Manila last September 25. We had some other stuff to do, like our meeting with Clarice, meeting with Anne Sy of Edsa Shangri-La, Melchor's fitting with Delby, etc. it was a hectic schedule for us!
I will be only honest here in my blog, based of what really happened. I guess, my family and I were to trustful to really believe that with only few weeks left before the wedding, they (the former designer) can really pull it through. The first fitting was set a week before our flight from Shanghai to Manila. At that time, I remember specifically that I kept on pressing for the fitting, my sister was calling the former designer also, as well as my coordinator. I totally understand that designers do then to get the measurements too fast, like in our case last April 2008, and ask for the downpayment immediately, in our case last April 2008; then will start doing the gowns pretty late, in our case, maybe less than a month's time.
The first fitting I was told was purely lining! Honestly, I was expecting it to be a little more than the lining! But fine, since it's the first fitting palang.. whatever. I remembered calling the former designer's office for the scheduled 2nd fitting. I was told that the gowns are being made at that time, and since the designs were the preferences of my entourage, they're having a bit difficulty in doing those designs. Funny that I will be given that reason, when they were the one who really sketched the gowns! I gave a specific instructions that the designs will have to incorporate the preferences and personalities of my entourage. I don't think that's too much to ask, right? After all, why do we have to hire a designer just to do simple gowns, when you can have it readily buy from stores and even have dressmakers do it for you?
Anyway, I really think I don't have to go into details with what really happened. Bottom line, my previous post here turns out to be my FORMER designer. 12 days before the wedding, we had a very tough decision to make, and I think it turned out pretty well. My entourage were wearing gowns created in 10 days! Can you imagine that? What more if I had chosen the New Designer even way before? I don't think I like to think more about it... After all, things happened for a reason. :)
So with that, my readers, I won't say that I really would recommend my former designer, because I was challenged that week because of them. I was stressed, disappointed, unhappy... but I moved forward, I took charge, I decided immediately. In end, I found a new designer who gladly accepted and worked with me in just 10 days! hahaha! And I think my Entourage pictures are proof enough, for you guys to really believe that, in the end, I chose the one with the real talent!
I can't believe that it's been a month now after our wedding day. Ang bilis noh? haha! I remember that last year, I was still busy booking suppliers, chasing them, and trying to work out contracts and prices! hahaha! And now, this exact date that Melchor and I promised forever.
I'm still waiting for some creative juices to flow for me to start and write my suppliers' review.
But one thing's for sure, I just love our wedding! I have a lot of people, suppliers, friends to thank for... and I just have to find the time and make sure to thank them talaga!! After all, without them, I won't be as happy as I am now.. though it's already been a month! hahahaha!
Of course, I really appreciate my family and relatives.
Lastly, to Melchor! hahah! For making sure that I had the wedding of my dreams!!! Happy happy to you!!
Btw, we just finished wrapping our Wedding tokens here in Shanghai. You see, here in China, after a wedding, we need to give out "Wedding Chocolates/Candies" to officemates, co-workers, etc. to share the happiness around. hahaha! So we've ordered 4 kilos of Dove Chocolates!! and also ordered small cardboard type boxes to wrap the chocolates! We finished 400+ pcs within 2 hours! hahaha! I will share the pictures very soon!
We got Fabfoto as our Wedding token for the guests! With that, Nelwin sent me a message yesterday that pictures taken during that night were already uploaded to the Fabfoto multiply site (please click here).
Melchor and I like to thank Fabfoto for keeping up with our guests, my cousins and my sister! hahaha! Our guests loved the token!! I think based from their feedback, they find our token refreshing and unique! hahaha! I think sanay pa sila sa mga lumang souvenir ng wedding! hahaha!
Enjoy the pictures!! I've also uploded them in my picasa web album here.
It's been awhile since I last blogged! I guess I'm not sure what I like to share here first.. hahah! I still have to do my Suppliers' Rating.. and I can't wait to finally sit-down and start doing it! We're still a bit busy here! We need to arrange a bit of our things pa.. Winter's about here already and I have to bring out my winter gear na, in preparation for the cold weather. Apart from that, work, have to choose the pictures for Nelwin for the album.. hahaha!
But in spite of that, we can't help and recall our 10.18.08 day! Hahahah! I just felt I had the most wonderful day of my life.. and I can't help but think about it over and over again! hahaha! :)
So I will continue to blog my adventures, thoughts, etc. and my Suppliers' rating!!
It's been more than a month since Melchor and I arrived Manila... for our vacation, wedding, etc. But now, the time has come for us to go back... though I've been through this phase couple of times already, it still makes me sad that I have to leave my Mom and family once again. *sigh* Here we go again...
And it's so weird.. hay...
But of course, I'm starting a new phase in my life... I'm now wife to Melchor.. I'm happy that my wedding was so beautiful!! I married my perfect guy, and I know he's my soul mate! I'm excited that we're now together forever, and will be each others' companion to our journey in this life. So it's really a mixed feelings!
Now, we're packing our stuff, and I can't help but feel really sad to leave my family behind once again. huhuhuhu....
Melchor & I are finally home! But where is the real home for us? haha! We'll just be spending short time here in Manila, then we'll be going back to Shanghai on Monday. Sometimes the feeling of not wanting to be far away from home do struck me once in a while..
I have little things to say now.. let me settle in muna.. hihih ;)
I'm blogging here, far away from the Philippines. In fact, around 7hours away from Home!
That's why I can't catch up to chat with family members
Yes, we're on our Honeymoon now... :) Being cheerful that I want, I'm so excited to share my happiness with people!
But first, I like to blog the songs that we've used in our AVP.. Are you familiar with the feeling that you want more and more choices, and you can't just get enough of everything? I have that feeling when I was still in search for the songs.
In end, we chose the following: Photo AVP - Corrine May's Everything in its time On-site AVP - Daniel Bedingfield's Never gonna leave your side
To be honest, I wanted more choices! hahaha! Yes, I was in search of something haven't been used before.. something unique, only for us! Something not too RNB, but not too alternative. And I think my sister, Erica, would agree, that the songs I was looking for were not easy to find!

So far, these are my suppliers that I can think of right now. Will update this soon and also their reviews! hehe :)
My sister Erica and her boyfriend Paolo surprised us yesterday a gift. I have to admit that I knew that my siblings will prepare something for us. Knowing Erica, who has been giving us gifts left and right, I'm confident that it's just a matter of time and what thing she will think of, we will eventually receive something from her. And yesterday was another episode of her thoughtful moments.
I think I have to list down here, what she has already provided for us. Also with her partner-in crime, Paolo, I have to say that they never cease to surprise us!
So, the first gift we received from Erica and Paolo were the Precious Moments figurine of a girl and a boy. We will also showcase this come wedding preps. Then, they gave Melchor a gift of Precious Moments jewelry box, for him to propose to me! hahaha!
Then, there's the Jeju keychain of a pair of Granny and Grandpa... with a tip that when I get pregnant, I have to frequently touch the nose of those 2 pairs, so that I will have a baby boy! hahaha!
I think the another important gift Erica gave us, was the help she provided when we were finalizing our invites. It was the most gruelling time of our wedding preps, as we were in Shanghai that time. With the help of technology, and Erica's patience as she understands me very well, our invites were much much more than we've expected it to be! hahaha!
Yesterday, they surprised us a gift again! hahaha! Lookie... inside is.... Melchor's all smile!! hehehe! :) The detail is freakingly the same as the original picture! hahaha! Even my moles and my necklines can be seen!! Also the bangle partner bracelets we were wearing! Melchor's laughlines and double chin! hahaha!! kitang kita! :)
Once again, Thank you very much Erica and Pao, for this gift! hehehe! As planned by Erica, this will be placed at the receiving table come reception time! hehehe! You guys are the most caring and thoughtful people, and we appreciate all your help and support in our wedding! hehe :)
As we're finalizing our guests list and printing our invites, we had some challenges in printing the invites. We first used my Mom's old printer. I think this printer was bought for Ever during her thesis period in school. It's being used by Ron, Erica and now, it's my turn as we're printing the envelopes for the invites.
Due to the thickness of the envelope, we encountered dis-alignment and creases on the sides of the envelopes! The Write Impression gave us 10 extra envelopes, and with Mom's HP Printer, we already wasted 5 enves! wah!!!
With that, as we also needed a scanner for the pictures, etc. Melchor and I decided to buy a 3 in 1 printer, scanner and copier - Epson TX100.
It's actually not expensive. I guess with all the new technology readily available left and right, things depreciate faster than we expected it to be.
I shall post some of the printer's pictures tomorrow. For the meantime, I like to greet Happy Birthday to Melchor! I don't have anything to add as of the moment, just plain happy birthday.
Earlier, my sister Erica and I were sending messages thru YM, and she typed: 30 days. I answered back, "anong 30 days?" Then, I realized that she's once again and again and again, reminding me of the days left before October 18. I guess I was too preoccupied in the office work, that I really really just wishing this week will be over soon! I'm dreading tomorrow, 'coz of the visitors we'll be having, then on Monday, there's another set of visitors coming over from somewhere! So much for my plan for a relaxing week.
So swamped with work earlier, I wasn't able to catch something that I like to remind me of my own countdown.
Well, my good friend Sheryl went to work today, and I'm very thankful as she's unselfishly sharing her tips and notes to me for the coming big day.
Am I excited for October 18 na ba? I still can't feel much about it. I just hope it's September 25 already!!! wahhhhhhhhh!!!!
Today was pretty hectic day for me. I started the day tackling some issues, and things got pretty tight for the whole day, and I'm not too happy about it. I'm also a bit irritated now!! I wanted to check more about wedding details, but I was distracted watching dvd earlier titled "Made of Honor". Hahahaha! It's a nice movie though.
But I got a surprise message earlier from good friend, Sheryl. I think I blogged about her last Sunday, for that her big day! Hahaha! Sheryl and Dwight tied the knot last Sunday in Manila, and I saw a bit of preview pictures from Marie's picasaweb, and I was itching to see more!! So She sent me a message earlier, I was happy that she's back in Shanghai already. She shared some of her experiences last Sunday, and the link of the Photo AVP that our photographer took and shown to the guests in their reception. Here's the Youtube link. And checking the pictures of their special day made me all warm and happy! In spite of the hectic day, I'm so glad to come home and receive happy news from one of my most fave people!
We've finally got a schedule for a visit to French Embassy, that will be on Monday, September 29. That's good news right? Melchor and I just have to think of how we gonna go to the Embassy, as my vehicle is coding on Mondays.
In completing our documents for the Visa requirements, after a week of talking and asking and inquiring from our bank, Bank of China, here in Shanghai, we finally got the Original Bank Certificate! As the banks here are pretty stable and sigurista, they want us to fixed the deposit into the no. of days we like the certificate to be valid! hahahaha! :) So with all the brouhaha, we got the certificate na! It's not free ah! It costs Rmb 20.00 each, and since we're applying to 2 embassies, we had 2 copies made for each other, total costs Rmb 80.00.
To commemorate today, here's the certificate that we had made by BOC: We just have the Employment Certificate to complete tomorrow, then I think we can tentatively submit these documents to the travel agency! heheh :)
Today was a typical working day. Coming from a sort of Long weekend, things started pretty hectic in the few hours, then it went slow. I'm waiting for some emails, etc.
When Ms. Yang Ai Zhu and Ms. Ni Jin came in to my office, holding this red box, I kinda hoping "that doesn't have anything to do with me, right? hahaha!" Ms. Yang was holding this red box, with Ms. Ni at the side, and they're going to my direction!! hahaha!
I was really surprised and I guess I just don't know what to say then! haha! I'm touched with their sincerity. Ms. Yang and Ms. Ni are part of my favorite people from Accounting Department, and I'm deeply happy that they thought of a gift for me and Melchor.
Ms. Yang asked me to open it, my smile was ranging from my left to right ear already! hahaha! And there I saw what inside and both of them quickly explained the item to me. This is what they called:子孙桶 or Zi Sun Tong (in Mandarin) or direct translation to Son and Grandson Barrel. This is part of the China's wedding tradition. I'm actually not sure if I had seen this kind back home, but based from my research now: "The set of Zi Sun barrel consists of three parts: a basin (Jiao Pan, 脚盆) symbolizing affluence; a close stool (Ma Tong, 马桶) symbolizing children and greater happiness and a bucket (Shum Tong, 水桶) symbolizing diligence and aspiration." - Taken from Tie d Knot, Chinese Dowry and Life of Guangzhou.
Earlier Ms. Yang and Ms. Ni were explaining this to me, of course, since I was a bit surprised, I seem to only understand a couple of their explanation. hahahaha! I quickly researched about this, and saw some Chinese explanations in this website here. I quickly shared the site to Melchor, Erica and Ever! hahaha! :)
In the end, Melchor and I are deeply touched with their thoughtfulness. I think I mentioned to Ms. Yang that we're starting to pack things in our individual rooms and transfer to the suite room here. Hahaha! I know Melchor was surprised as well, that's why we both personally thank them once again. hehe :)
I like to thank Ms. Yang and Ms. Ni for their wonderful gift. I think the best gift that I received here is their kindness and helpfulness in our working together everyday! I sincerely like them very much and I have nothing but praises for them. Thank you very much, from Melchor and Ria.
I think when we come back in November, we shall have this displayed in our room, and I think we need to put some peanuts, candies, red dates inside the bucket and stool area..? hahaha! :) Cool! Something I can munch on next time! ;)
Tomorrow will be the first day of the work week, so Melchor and I usually allot the day before the work week just bumming around the dorm. We did toyed the idea of going somewhere today, and look for some goodies to bring back home, but the rain finally decided the plans for the day, which is to just stay home! hahaha!
I'm hearing lightning and thunder right now, and Melchor do agreed it's good thing we stayed home! hahaha! So what we kinda did earlier, was start arranging my stuff here at my room.
I've been a bit lucky that I wasn't in town whenever our family have a big transfer to another place moment, and I guess, being the way that I am, I really hate transferring and packing! In order to do something useful and fruitful for the holiday, we kinda started packing my books, magazines, dvds, cds and some small stuff appliances here in my room.
At present, I have 2 boxes near my TV! hahaha! Inside contains some books and magazines I have here, and also some DVDs, etc. I wonder Melchor's plan on how to bring these heavy boxes upstairs! hahahaha! I can't wait to see that! :)
Today started pretty slow one for us. Melchor and I are used to bumming around the dormitory every Sunday, since we try to go out every Saturday. But this weekend is a new one to us. September 14 is the Chinese date for the Mid Autumn day, that's why the China government declared a 3-day non-working holidays starting Yesterday till Monday.
So just bumming around the dorm, I caught up with my 2 sisters, Erica and Ever, for some sharing of ideas, updates and chatting with each other. Also included in our chatting was Melchor. hehehe! Odd man out ba? But he was a bit busy in looking for the serviced apartment that we'll be staying in Manila.
After just spending the whole afternoon here, we decided to go to the Outlets store. I was thinking of getting my Mom a bag for her daily use, and maybe another bag for Ever... Then, I like to find good buys to be brought home for Erica, Aunts and Cousins.. maybe like nice dresses or something for them.. But alas, since I get impatient quickly, I kinda get tired of trying to fuss around when checking out the first rack don't have anything that caught my eye. Of course, another factor is the price! I have a policeman with me (that's Melchor), which every now and then, I try to ask if there's something nice that he saw, that I wasn't able to check out.
We ate at Sweeties, our favorite at Outlets... and for the pic of the day, I think I will upload the Bichu Bichu that I've ordered from Sweeties! You may ask why, right? hahaha! Since the first time visited the resto, I always ask and ordered for this Bichu Bichu, but it's always unavailable! For today, we've finally ordered it! hahahah!
Oh, and I also like to blog and congratulate my fellow bride, Sheryl and Dwight! They tied the knot this afternoon, and I saw some preliminary pictures and they're quite stunning! Sheryl's gown is soooo beautiful! hahahaha! I just saw Marie's pictures from the wedding, and they're pretty already! I hope to see Sheryl and Dwight's day in Nelwin Uy's site soon! hihihi :) Best Wishes Sheryl and Dwight!! :)
Melchor and I will take our leave on the 25th of September. Personally, I feel I'm more excited to the thought that we'll be home once again. To see our families, relatives and friends, and I guess we have another reason to celebrate, Our Wedding.
It's kinda freaky saying that! hahaha! Sorry Melchor! hahaha! Maybe it's so weird that I remember that exactly September 14, I learned that we have good day for a wedding! hahaha! And I sent a Message to Melchor and then he just said "Yes, let's proceed" via YM Chat! hahaha!
I'm counting down our final days here in Shanghai. Then, after that, countdown to October 18. hahahahaha! The thought I think scares me more! :)
Today, Melchor and I had a sort of misunderstanding! Pano! Kamote si Mg! hahahaha! But later today, we of course had to work it out... I need a roll of tissue paper kasi e, and he keeps the tissue rolls in his room! hahaha!
Tomorrow, will have a half day work, then, we're off to the City to meet Kim. hahaha! We'll have lunch together, she requested Western food!
Here's Melchor scouting for our place of stay after the big day... while waiting for the day we depart for our honeymoon! hahahaha!
